November 27, 2009I only managed to watch about 40 seconds of this until I could view no more and no I did not cease because of a server time-out or a youtube re-buffering. No… It was down to the sensation of something food like ( I think it was my breakfast ) travelling back up my trachea into my mouth that halted the full watching of this vid!
Enjoy.

November 26, 2009Beauty.
August 24, 2009Whilst paying for a packet of 10 Marlboro ‘lights’ at my local off license’ last night I heard “Yo! How much your bike was!?” This poor use of the English language had come bellowing indoors towards me from one of the three youths stationed outside like a verbal tsunami and I replied accordingly. “Mind your own business son”.
After the smoking materials had been gained and my change emptied into my pocket I returned to my parked bicycle outside to be met again with “How much?” and my answer was the same.
The brief conversation that followed between these three boys and myself brought us to the untimely conclusion that the Purple 1989 Duell track pursuit bicycle that I was using was actually “shit” and worth no more than £50 in today’s money and that their cousins Carrera “racer” was blatantly ten times better than mine as he had bought his from Halfords. I had absolutely no come back. Actually he did say that my saddle was “Sick eni” which apparently means that it is pretty good… bonus. We finished up, threw a couple of soft curses at each other and went on our way, smiling.
Now then, joking aside they actually did think that their cousins Carrera was ten times better than mine and why wouldn’t they. Beauty is, after all in the eye of the beholder.
Which leads me to these. Some photos from a gallery Hardy sent me via email a while ago with the title ‘Crap but good’.

Low on street cred?
January 19, 2009Perhaps have a bid on this.
Fixed wheel street cred on Ebay.
I have too much street-cred and need to make a little extra cash. This is a great opportunity for anyone just starting out in the messenger world that doesn’t really know how to fit in, or what city is the most hard-core. You will be able to tell people that we are bros, that you are down with real-life bike messengers, that you have totally partied with us, and be able to boast wild stories of how gnarly a ride was. I will even include spoke-cards and descriptions of races so that you can tell wild stories about being there, broken toe straps, well worn raceing shirt, waterproof socks friend invite on myspace and a broken frame(raleigh team frame that has been mashed way to hard) This will undoubtedly help you build even more street cred! Happy bidding and let me know if you have any questions about my cred.
At the time of writing this post the ‘item’ is at $6 with 5 days remaining and 10 bids so plenty of time to snag that deal!
FBM Sword
January 15, 2009
I don’t know a great deal about this frame other than what I have seen flying around the interglobe. However I do know it is made by none other than the Federal Bike Company, purveyors of some damn fine BMX products.
Not entirely sure if this will come to the UK as the Sword frameset has been out since 2007 and I never seen one or heard of anyone owning one but I hope they do because they look good… that paint looks cool too.

They say ‘Fixies’ were invented in SF
January 14, 2009This is one of the illest bikes i have ever seen.
Found on Pedal Mafia Bike Check.

This killer Ciocc is owned by Garrett of M.A.S.H SF fame,
for those who do not know of M.A.S.H here is a clip of their 2007 movie…
And here is a great article / interview from Sahtel of Garrett and Jonathan Burkett both from the M.A.S.H crew which features an awful lot of words but also some amazing photographs and a behind the scenes peek at the making of the movie.
How good it is
December 18, 2008

Josh and Arjun dropped by me today to pick up a seat post that I had forgotten to bring with me. We stood in the rain and talked a little while and got accosted by a drunken fellow wearing a bandana who swore he was the dark knight and that I was Spiderman, after he found someone else to annoy, I gripped the nearest camera and snapped a couple of shots of the two teenagers with the matching paintwork.
After parting with Josh and Arjun I gots to thinking… how good it is to see more and more young folks getting into cycling, actually cycling. I have ridden bikes all my life but mainly BMX and mountain bikes, I only purchased my first road bike 2 years ago. As a teenage from what I can remember everything that concerned me and my bike was dangerous; who could get down Ludlow downhill without falling off? Who would be the first to 360 that brand new set of doubles? Do I have the minerals to atempt that MASSIVE rhythm section? All thrilling and all pretty dangerous.
I find riding fixed wheel different, no doubt it can be a bit dangerous riding on the road amongst all the cars and lunatics, but if you ride safe everything will be just nice. There will be no doubles to jump and no rocks or boulders to dodge.
People say riding fixed wheel is a trend, a fad. So what? So what if it is a trend? People like Josh and Arjun don’t get the bus or drive, they ride, to work or to college. Surely the more people getting into riding bikes around instead of driving cars can only be a good thing.
Josh’s Koga Miyata
