The Weekend Workers Fixed Gear Social Club is on, Tonight!
On thing though, I am baffled by the BBC’s weather indicator as one of them says ‘Showers’ and the other one, on the same website I might add says ‘Dry’. Hmmmm. So keep your mobile communications devices near your person for a mass tx message update coming out to you some time this afternoon.
Here are the details again for anyone who missed them!
7.10pm – Pigeon Park, Birmingham.
7.30pm – Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath.
7.45pm – Maypole Island, Alcester Rd.
Then we proceed out towards Earlswood lakes and a nearby local boozer for banter, heckling, and bicycle rubbishing ie: “mines better than yours” that type of thing.
Hopefully see you all later.
ps. If you are interested in joining and have not yet emailed me your number please do so using the ‘Get intouch’ tab located on the top right of this page.

Tomorrow night.

Fin, the man who has single handedly brought Bike Polo to Birmingham has set up a regular game, commencing every Wednesday at 6.20pm at Calthopre Park, just off the Pershore road.
I believe he has all the gear you need ( Mallets ) so you can just turn with your whip and get involved.
If you have the time and have never tried polo you really must give it a go as it may just be the most fun you could possible have on a bike whilst waving a stick about.
Go here for updates.

Tomorrow night as planned.
The BBC weather site says it will be a little cloudy and maybe one or two light showers so I guess that means we are good to go. Agreed?
This time will go a slightly different route to take in the beautiful Earlswood lakes, then a trip to the local ale house for light refreshments and a bite of my favourite cheese and onion roll.
7.10pm Pigeon Park.
7.30pm Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath.
7.45pm Maypole island.
keep em peeled for tx messages and updates.

Last nights ride was awesome, I counted ten people in the peloton which for the first social is amazing.
Hopefully the folks that couldn’t make it last night will be able to get involved in next week’s ‘Weekend Workers Fixed Gear Social Club’ because as they say… ‘The more the merrier’ and there is ‘safety in numbers’.
Big thanks to Dan, Josh, Hardy, Fin, Teddy, Brett and an even bigger thanks to Tom, Nick and Chris for catching the train in from Wolvo and Stourbridge… Now that is what I call dedication!

So I have managed to keep Kev awake long enough to squeeze a few pics out of him from last weekends Bikezilla event.

Gutted I missed this one as I hear that it was great and I can also see from various other pics flying around the net that the turn out was good too so a very well done goes out to Fin.
Kevin… if you are reading this, get on the rest pal, these are some fine pics and we need to see more!
Also Keep em peeled for Bikezilla Round 2.

I have just been out on my lunch break and it is raining cats and dogs and the weather app on my iphone tells me it will remain like this until tomorrow so a Re-schedule to Thursday must take place.
Everyone good with Thurdsay?
I hate postponing and cancelling things but the Lord on high has left me no choice.
All interested in joining please send me your name and number via the ‘get intouch’ tab at the top right of your screen so I can update easier and quicker… the joys of technology!
Sorry about this my people but I guessed no one would really enjoy a wet and soggy ride through the country.
Right so it is raining here in Birmingham but I am hoping it will have calmed down by 7oclock tonight.
Are you guys still up for this? I guess we will find out tonight when I arrive at Pigeon Park…!
Dan mentioned a 7.30pm meet at the Hare and Hounds for the folks who live over those sides. I am happy with this so it is settled.
7.10pm – Town meet – Pigeon Park.
7.30pm – Kings Heath meet – outside the Hare and Hounds.
Read the general and quite loose route here.
For those that manage to read this today while at work or chilling at home could you please leave your name in the comments box so I know how many will be making it.
Also if you have time could you ‘Get Intouch’ at the top right of the screen with your name and phone number… This way I can keep all comers updated should any issues arise between the time you leave you computer and 7oclock.
Thanks and hopefully see you later.

Right then, sorry for the lateness of the deets folks but here goes:
We will meet on Tuesday evening at 7.10pm at Pigeon Park in the city centre and then proceed to cycle out of town onwards through Balsall Heath, Moseley, then Kings Heath to hopefully meet some more people and then out passed the Maypole into the countryside.
We aim to do a 2-3 hour ride and either do a shorter distance and stop at a country pub ( the Peacock perhaps? ) or do a long loop of somesort… but we will leave that decision up to all of us on the day I think.
So them there are the vitals… I hope you can make it and let us hope for good weather!

After chatting with Josh it became quite obvious that the weekend workers need something, something to get them ( and me ) involved in the action.
I hear and see the words ‘Alleycat’, ‘Race’, ‘Ride’ and my eyes light up… then I see the words ‘Saturday’ or ‘Sunday’. Rubbish, I work most Saturdays and some Sundays.
That is where this comes in…
Josh coined it the “Weekend Workers Fixed Gear Social Club” and it is basically this:
In the month of July our evenings are hella long and as you all know we don’t see a proper sunset until around 10pm so weekend workers this one is for you.
Throughout the month of July, every Tuesday night at 7pm we will depart from the city centre and head out to the countryside for a 2 – 3 hour ride, nothing too hardcore just a nice merry cycle to get the heart and lungs working and more importantly for the socializing! Don’t worry newbies either as we will incorporate a few stops en route for the folks with burning legs and wheezy chests and no doubt a pub stop later on for those who like a sip of the amber nectar.
If anyone has any questions about this or has a problem with the time or day please get in-touch as it would be nice to accommodate all of you and by the way, these rides are for anyone not just the WW.
I will post more details about the destination and meeting place tomorrow.

Right – this time let’s meet round the side of the library, by the bike racks at, erm, let’s say 4pm, but that’s subject to change. Feel free to bring a bit of booze if you wish, but remember street drinking is banned in Brum, and it’s better to leave the drinking until after the ride…
This one will be a points race. You do not have to visit all of the checkpoints but there will be a time limit. Some checkpoints will be worth more points than others. Penalty for being late, extra points for coming back first, second and third.
The race is also a race for points in teh Brum alleycat league. The points you earn in the race will also count as your points on the league table. Hence, you don’t have to come in the top three to get on the table.
Since there is no prize there is no entry fee, however, entrants may pay an optional pound towards a mystery prize. Obviously, only those who have paid will be eligible to win the prize…

Regarding the picture: Lee what is wrong with the dudes head? Is it the dayglo nature of the flyer that is giving the poor chap a headache?

Lee over at the Birmingham Fixed blogsite let me know about this.
Should be a seriously bumper event if last year’s Helloween was anything to go by.
I hope to see all crews representing… including Hardy, Josh, Arjun, Os R, Keiran, Tom, Nick… All the mans!
I have a lot of making up to do from the last time I raced Hardy and Tom and lost badly due to a boozy Xmas hangover.
