Got it this morning and after a few tweaks and minor adjustments I promptly stretched my limbs, donned my bib shorts and jersey and commenced to give it a damn good thrashing.
A good handful of miles later and all I can say is… Boy, it feels great to be back on a modern road bike. All hail compact gearing!

I love patent drawings. No matter how new the technology, they always manage to look about a million years old.

Looks like Max at TFG has been busy. Busy tapping away into Ebay because he recently managed to snag this absolute stunner of a TT bike off of there. Just look at that rear mech… You gotta love a bit of drillium! Gosh, jealous I am.

I heart black bikes and especially black bikes that look like this.

The AIS/RMIT Olympic Superbike is an example of innovation in design and engineering. The opportunity to stretch the limits of bicycle design came in 1996, when the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) changed the rules governing bicycle design to less restrictive specifications. Through some unusual circumstances a project team was drawn from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). The resulting bike, the Superbike, allowed many top athletes to break world records.

This is my pal Simon’s most recent build and I think you’ll agree that it’s a fine one. Simon, what’s the deal with your next level penchant for TT/Pusuit bikes man!? What’s this one, number four? five?

The latest made in Italy masterpiece from Colnago, the new EPS Di2 advances the state of the art in road racing bicycles.
We have improved our lugged carbon fiber frame to incorporate ports for the cabling of Shimano’s advanced Dura-Ace Di2 electronic gear shifting while maintaining the stellar EPS ride and handling.
The EPS Di2 shares the essential qualities of the EPS: light weight, toughness and durability. With Dura-Ace Di2 electronic gears, EPS Di2 offers shifting performance to match the EPS frame’s smooth, powerful ride.
With 22 sizes on offer, plus the option of custom construction for riders with specific requirements, you can be sure the EPS Di2 will fit perfectly.
God knows how much this is, actually I don’t think I want to know.

it’s definitely a budget thing, because all of us have financial restrictions, whatever those might be; when it comes to choosing a new bicycle, there’s always a notional amount beyond which it is not wise to go, a limit either self-imposed, or imposed upon us by a partner who really can’t see why it is necessary to own more than one bicycle. just as an aside, I do have a certain sympathy with this, because it cannot be denied that the colnago has been sorely neglected since the cielo turned up (though I have told it that it is still loved as much as ever). I can only ride one at a time, review machines notwithstanding, and i figure most riders are the same, though I can see exceptions being made for those who need both road and cyclocross, and maybe mountain bikes, though i’m inclined to discount the latter option. just because I can.
An excerpt taken from the Washing machine post’s recent piece on the differences between cheaper and more expensive racing bicycle purchases. To spend more or to spend less?
A real interesting read. More here.

The build: Stainless steel King cages, EDGE bars, seatpost, rims and stem, Campagnolo super record gruppo, White Industries hubs, White Brooks saddle, Paul Racer brakes, Challenge Roubaix tubular tires, Honjo stainless steel fenders, Chris King headset, Nitto M-18 rack, and a custom BaileyWorks rack bag, all mounted on a titanium lugged frame with carbon fiber tubes…. and of course a custom IF Club Racer fork.
Absolutely lugtastic! What a beaut this is. The more I see Independent fabrication’s work the more I want to be involved and when I say involved I mean… I want.

Ouch!
Found this brilliant website dedicated wholly to broken carbon bicycles and components.
Now the thought had crossed my mind to ditch steel and go carbon for this summer’s build but scrap that, Busted Carbon has turned me right off!
