Timm Koelln.
February 18, 2010I picked out Timm’s work recently in my acquired Rouleur photo annual 2009 ( thanks Sam ) and I must say he has to be one of my favourite photographers taking pictures of cycle sport right now.
In my opinion he seems to capture the energy and feeling of this sport that not many others can.
Visit Timm’s website here.
Salford Park R.I.P.
February 15, 2010Because I am entering this I thought it about time I joined some sort of real bona fide cycling club so I can get my regular ride on, plus some good experience of riding in a large pack. Anyway, looking around on the club website that has been recommended to me by several, Beacon Roads CC I came across these great photographs of them racing at Salford Park in the 1980s.
I can remember myself trying to cane it around these very banks on my illuminous green Raleigh Lizard. It is ashame because Salford park is now a 5′a’side football complex. That said I suppose it was outdoors, and concrete, and crumbling to pieces. Heck I am sure I even got a puncture on there!
Nice photographs though.
British Pathe.
November 10, 2009I am terribly annoyed.
The big steaming dog poo that is WordPress has this morning prevented me from embedding a multitude of the most amazing and fantastic videos of British cycling history from a website that was previously unknown to me. British Pathe.
I would have loved to have shown you the movie of the 1951 Tour de Britain but no, it won’t let me, I would also have liked to post about a 1956 Dunlop T.V advertisement but alas Worpress says no so unfortunately friends you will all have to go see for yourself by going here.
If you like your movies black and white and you are partial to a spot of nostalgia then it really is a must!
Thanks LS of B’ham cyclist for the linky.
