De Rosa TT Hotness.

May 20, 2010

DeRosa professional time trial bike: Columbus steel tubes, TIG welded for low weight and maximum stability, aerodynamic geometry and design, short headtube for a more aerodynamic body position. Hidden cable routing for the lowest possible air drag. Matching extra-light steel fork included. Made for a professional cycling team in 1997.

It’s suddenly all about Silva bartape.

Looks like Max at TFG has been busy. Busy tapping away into Ebay because he recently managed to snag this absolute stunner of a TT bike off of there. Just look at that rear mech… You gotta love a bit of drillium! Gosh, jealous I am.

The Birth of Aerodynamics 1899.

April 9, 2010

Charles Minthorn Murphy more popularly known as “Mile-a-Minute” Murphy, was an American cycling star from the late 19th century and early 20th century. His greatest claim to fame was being the first man ever to ride a bicycle for one mile in less than a minute in 1899.

This achievement was achieved by following an LIRR train car from Farmingdale to Babylon on Long Island.

Because of this stunt, he claimed to have thought up the concept of streamlining for automobiles and planes and said he was paid a sizeable amount for this idea.

14 Killing it…

December 7, 2009

… With this.

What an absolute pearl of a bicycle and made out of custom drawn aero ( Christ I have used that word a few times today havn’t I? ) steel tubing too. Damn!

This frame was initially an experiment to see how far we could push the boundaries and capabilities of 14 Bike Co’s resources. Andy at FGLDN based the concept on a couple of frames he had owned in the past. This is a frame that is all about the details…

R-011.

This is the beast known as the Rafael r-011. The detail that get’s me is the aero bottle at the front of the bicycle… That is a great concept right there.

Last week I said I would post pics of either the Bottechia Equipe or the Ciocc San Crisoball but no… I chose this beauty instead. A 1989 Paletti Cronos complete with Modolo braking equipment and an Assos chainset I have never seen before. I am loving the profile of those tubes too, proper early aero!
