All orders for Spinwell Projects No.3 ‘the Musette’ that were placed before 12 oclock this afternoon have been shipped, with the exception of the Birmingham orders which will be delivered personally by myself this evening ( work depending! ).
Thank you all for your custom and to those still interested in grabbing one, I still have a few left so don’t sleep!
I had never heard of Langdale until my pal Jon told me about them, and after a quick peruse around the ‘history’ section of their website I can safely say that the name will now stay logged in the hard drive, aka my memory banks.
How have I not posted this before? Nevertheless a recent email from a Mr Ian Rowley ( thanks for getting in touch Ian ) reminded me of just how much of a legend Tommy Godwin is. Lest we also forget his Birmingham roots!
Tommy Godwin was one of this countries greatest track racing cyclists and one of cycle racings greatest ambassadors. Born in 1920 in the USA he spent his adult and working life in Birmingham. He was national sprint champion and an Olympic medalist winning two bronze medals at the 1948 London games in the team pursuit and the 1km individual time trial. Tommy also won a further bronze medal at the 1950 British Empire Games. Tommy was also manager of the British National Cycle Team at the 1964 Tokyo Games.
Tommy also had a bike shop near where I used to live, wish it was still there… it’s now an Aldi supermarket car park.
Got it this morning and after a few tweaks and minor adjustments I promptly stretched my limbs, donned my bib shorts and jersey and commenced to give it a damn good thrashing.
A good handful of miles later and all I can say is… Boy, it feels great to be back on a modern road bike. All hail compact gearing!
What a movie! I have watched this a few times over the weekend and it’s just mystifying how it was possible to do back in 1910. The human really is capable of more than we expect of it.
This magazine is meant to be a review and critical study of racing bicycles from 1903 until now (2009). The bikes shown are especially selected to accentuate the development in each decade.
Brilliant. Spinwell Projects No.3 – ‘The Musette’ is almost a complete batch.
Super happy at the outcome of these, they are exactly how I envisaged. The print looks fantastic, the quality of Hardysan’s stitch-work is amazing and above all it works, the tiny little refinements myself and Hardysan talked about and implemented on this, such a basic item turned out beautifully.
Some folks got it so easy. To watch any telly at all I have an aerial plugged into a signal booster plugged into freeview box plugged into my TV and that still gives me a fuzzy picture. Channel 5′s pretty good though!
It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Every few metres, there were riders slumped over their bikes at the side of the road. Each of the famed 21 virages saw people leant up against the walls, taking any small amount of rest they could. There were queues for the alpine streams that traverse the mountain, with riders taking ice-cold showers to try and cool themselves down.
