Speaking of rims.

May 18, 2009
Eero, the new rim from H Plus Son is a deep section rim designed to take abuse. Expect the same high quality workmanship you find on Formation Face and SL42.
So as Velocity release the B43 and the Chukker H+Son are soon to release the Eero. Now I know nothing about this rim other than what is written up there but I have no doubt that this rim will be hella strong and hella swish.
More info soon.

May 18, 2009… To garner some information about my Recently puchased Carlton track frame I came across this:

You absolutely cannot beat the look of a ‘real’ vintage track bike and this Carlton Flyer Madison is up there with the best of them… Made in England, Fully chromed and with a full campy groupo. Sickening.
Sportscaster.
May 18, 2009Sometime between 77 and 79 something called ‘Sportscaster’ cards were available across America to subscribers. Among the Sportscaster cards were a set for Cycling and thanks to Hipster Nascar for making the source known here is a selection of them. Cheers HN!

May 13, 2009Bianchi x Hypebeast x Solebox
Hypebeast and Solebox have collaborated with Bianchi on these two bikes. Hypebeast on the D2 Pista and Solebox on the Cr-Mo Pista. Apparently they are meant to match some sneakers that both HB and SB did with Adidas, that said I still think these bikes are plain as hell and colour co-ordination like this makes my eyes bleed.
Sorry for the hate folks but these bikes are wack.

May 12, 2009White Ind Urban Pedal.
May 12, 2009I must say these pedals look great. Instead of people either re-hashing a set of BMX platforms or a set of road pedals to use on the street these are designed specifically for the task… Urban Fixed riding.
All that said it looks difficult for one to run double straps and more over, my biggest gripe with them is the fact that you can’t run them upside down. Sometimes when I am feeling especially Zany I like to ride backwards or sometimes even pop a wheelie ( feet on the back of the pedals so I am not ‘clipped in’ ) but these look like they would be very uncomfortable doing so just like the ar-2.
For straight up mashing though these pedals look just the ticket.

Max Air.
May 12, 2009A friend of a work colleague passed by the store last weekend on this: A Rad as hell 1985 Skyway Streetbeat.

They said at the time: Forget the ordinary with Street Beat, Skyway’s new full-on freestyle machine. It’s light enough to grab max air, and strong enough to beat the street. “Max Air” ! how times have changed, you would sound a complete idiot spouting that lingo today for sure.
Peep all of the excessive tubing though compared to todays basic utilitarian ‘Freestyle’ bikes… Nowadays BMX bikes look like scooters with pedals on and this thing looks like a spaceship with wheels on… I love it.

Props to you emalie ( hope I spelt your name right ) you got a real nice whip there.
Fin’s troubles.
May 11, 2009An Excerpt taken from LFGSS about the tribulations of applying track grips.
I’m in the process of building a new stead and recently acquired some lovely bars and some soyo track grips to accompany them.
Riding home on friday night with said bars I was beside myself with glee that my bike was slowly coming together and itching to put the grips on.
How hard could it be!? I tried the washing up liquid approach, after heaving for 15 mins i only got one grip 1/3 of the way on.
I then tried the wd-40 method, at first 1/2 the grip slid on but after 30 mins of pushing and a hernia, only a couple of cm followed. I was uber pissed, I cursed soyo and nitto.
With it too late to get hairspray I drowned my sorrow with a nice glass of whisky (nothing special, Grant’s).
WAIT A MINUTE!!! I poured the whisky into my grips with a mindless conviction and tried them on the bars – 20 seconds for each grip it took me, 20 seconds!
Now not only do my bars look lovely but they smell great too. Next time im going to use a 14 year single malt for better application.
Thanks for that Fin… that little story had me chuckling into my coffee!
