Hardy dropped by me yesterday to show off his brand new frame, The very same frame he has been waiting for for what seems a lifetime.
Finally the wait has paid off and here it is. His custom Enigma Titanium track frame. Damn son that frame is tight.
Real nice work Hardy I can’t wait to see it complete and yes, thank goodness they didn’t drill the bridge!

So the Wired blog just posted a fixed wheel slating.
“Fixed-gear bicycles are the scourge of modern bike fashion. Actually, fixies are almost nothing but fashion. If you took a swaying, brainless, gazelle-like catwalk model and turned her into a bike, a fixie is what you’d get.”
For god’s sake Wired quit using the word ‘Fixie’, seriously guys it is played out… just like your article.

I blogged something like this as one of my very first Spinwell posts way back when and now it seems as though we have a different edit or something? Apologies as my Fixed gear movie game is most certainly not tight… In fact I would say it is positively loose!
Anyway… Enjoy.

I was only alerted to the sad death of Trevor Bull yesterday via Tx message from my good friend Keiran and although I only met Trevor a couple of times whilst visiting Harborne Cycle surgery I can still say what a fine chap he was.
For those not aware of this Birmingham cycling legend here is a little bit of background –
Trevor was an Olympic track rider namely in 1964 when he competed in the team pursuit, he held some UK records in his early days and then circa 1969 he turned pro for Sun -Truwell to ride on the road.
He crossed over from track to road very well and became a regular winner especially in the criterium races and flatter road races. Sponsor wise he spent most of his better days with Raleigh / Carlton teams and then Dawes.

This ladies and gentlemen is the product of Cyclescheme.

Myself and my assistant have hassled our bosses so much that they caved in and signed up and thanks to them and the ( not always ) helpful staff off Evans cycles Sonia pictured here is now the proud owner of a Pashley Princess.
I asked Sonia this morning how she is finding her new ride, her answer was “Look, it has a pump on it and I don’t even know how to use it” bless her.
Following Sonia is Dan who is awaiting his Fuji track, Kevin awaits his Bianchi Pista, Matt should recieve his Fit bike co BMX someday now, Charlene has ordered her Specialized single speed and Jack is simply getting “the cheapest single speed he can get on part time wages”. Then there is me… I already own too many bikes and bits but the lure of a 40% discount is drawing me towards a geared road bike ( see “Going up is easy” ). All I have to do now is choose one! Given the fact that I am terribly fickle this decision process could be a tough one.
All Hail the New Era Flagship Store Cycling Club!

Dodici.
These guys from Italy have some pretty cool products for sale on their blogspot.
I was alerted to Dodici while hunting around for rims a while back and I came across their super deep aero section prototype rim.

Now it appears these are for sale in the same colour options of H plus Sons – Black, White or Silver and at 60 euros each they are in pretty much the same price bracket as the aforementioned H plus sons but having never owned nor ridden on either rim I couldn’t comment on which is better so I guess we will just have to wait and see.

They also do some fresh looking steel frames with a real neat seat binding mechanism, however, petty as it may be I really do not like the head badge. I think if you are going to do this ( you know, making traditional looking steel track-esque frames ) then you should at least strive to get all of the finer details ironed out right? Just my opinion and sorry for the hate! Apart from that Dodici is looking good.
