A good friend of mine Matt recently alerted me to this movie he had just completed and screened at ‘Flatpack Festival’, Tacit.
In short it is a movie of his world famous partner Lucy McLauchlan painting for the opening of an exhibition at the Walsall museum and art gallery.
Beautifully shot in HiDef B+W stop motion this movie is serious and what is more is that the whole thing was done ‘in house’. All of the film production, music scoring ( a circuit bent broken radio and a ‘prepared’ piano in the reception of Birmingham’s Custard Factory ), title sequencing, end crediting, and jiggerypokering was all done by Matt and Lucy… with a little help from their friends!
I recently bought this frameset back after the friend who I initially sold it to had literally just taken it home and looked at it.
“Perfect” I thought… A nice lightweight frameset for Amy to replace the slightly heavy “Team Pro”, the thing is I was going to paint the Team Pro for Amy anyway but thanks to Kevin this has saved me a job.
Complete with Wine box retro-fitted to the front by me this is the perfect picnic and grocery getting bike and Amy is over the moon. Result.
Gnargore is a collective of bad skateboarders with vivid imaginations from the Black Country, England.
Formed in Summer 2003, Gnargore has gone on to have many name drops, and also produce three successful skateboard films, reviewed in Sidewalk Magazine and other cool stuff.
Looks good, I’m looking forward to attaching it to the beater later on tonight as that plastic BMX saddle cannot be ridden on for longer than five minutes. Hardy I don’t know how you managed it!

Nowadays downhill mountain bikes look more like motocross bikes than their human powered brothers. Anyone who has seen the G-Honda bike ridden by the likes of Greg Minaar would agree. The thing has an internal gear box!

This one will be a points race. You do not have to visit all of the checkpoints but there will be a time limit. Some checkpoints will be worth more points than others. Penalty for being late, extra points for coming back first, second and third.
The race is also a race for points in teh Brum alleycat league. The points you earn in the race will also count as your points on the league table. Hence, you don’t have to come in the top three to get on the table.
Since there is no prize there is no entry fee, however, entrants may pay an optional pound towards a mystery prize. Obviously, only those who have paid will be eligible to win the prize…

Completely impractical and yet utterly beautiful, Forkless is a completely scratch-built custom chopper with, you’ve guessed it, no forks. The steering is done via a series of linked rods running around the frame from the handlebars to the front hub (reclaimed from a wheelchair).
Chopperolli, the artist/engineer behind Forkless, has posted a Making Of photo essay on the Ratrod Bikes forums. The highlights: The rims came from a moped and had to be drilled to take more spokes, the rear hub is a modified-coaster brake hub which now only rest on a single fork (what is a single fork called? A tine?) and to keep the whole bike pure white, Chopperolli even hand carved new rubber inserts for the pedals.
Apparently the bike rides pretty well. The steering is probably a little fluffy, but this isn’t a road racer. It’s a pimped-out cruiser.
